The solemn events are being held, on the central Ala-Too square, on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic.

President of Kyrgyzstan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country Sadyr Zhaparov, in his speech, congratulated the Kyrgyz people on the holiday.

He said that today we are celebrating a great historical date – the thirtieth anniversary of the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“We must acknowledge and say that in 1991 the communist and Soviet parliament – the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR – made a great historic step in serving our people and future generations,” Zhaparov said.

The president mentioned also the heroism and work of Kyrgyz great ancestors, who passed a long and difficult path of restoring independence.

He also touched upon the achievements achieved during the period of independence.

“Since the declaration of independence, Kyrgyzstan has become a full participant and subject of international law. Since then, our republic has chosen a democratic model and development ideals,” President Zhaparov said.

The head of state also spoke about various challenges, from the burden of finding an optimal development model to a national character. “There were fluctuations that led to a number of internal political crises in the country, including tragedies, and had a different impact on the development of the country.

In these difficult conditions, Kyrgyzstan was able to overcome deep divisions in society, ensuring stability, interethnic harmony, unity and tolerance.

We all want to make Kyrgyzstan a stable, multinational country, where every citizen feels happy and protected.

Therefore, state policy for the next five years is aimed at building a modern, developed Kyrgyzstan, increasing citizens’ confidence in the country, unity, creative activity of the people, as well as improving the quality of life and protecting the rights of citizens,” he noted.

President Zhaparov also spoke about projects and programs aimed at creating a promising and free business environment that will determine the future of the country. “We have set a number of ambitious plans to ensure rapid economic development.

Work is actively underway to implement projects for the construction of large and small hydroelectric power plants in order to use the energy potential of Kyrgyzstan.

In connection with the changing situation in the region, there is an urgent need to strengthen our border territories and intensify control measures. Therefore, I believe that now the main goal is to replenish the weapons and military equipment of the Kyrgyz army as soon as possible and to increase the combat effectiveness of our armed forces.

We respect good relations with our neighbors. We are interested in further developing cooperation with our strategic partners, allies and friendly countries,” he said assuring that in the next five years every citizen of Kyrgyzstan will be provided with a quality education and a decent life.
